How swaps work

1. 1Look for the Swap indicator on a product listing.
2. 2Open the listing and review the seller’s product details.
3. 3Use the available marketplace communication flow to discuss the proposed exchange.
4. 4Agree on the exact devices, condition and any price difference before proceeding.

Stay safe

Do not assume a swap is complete until both parties have agreed on the exchange details. Keep records of important agreements and use Gadget Trade’s support/reporting channels when a transaction becomes disputed.

Before agreeing to a swap

Both sides should identify the exact products and disclose their condition, accessories, known defects and any restrictions that could affect the exchange. Do not rely on a vague description when the item has material limitations.

Inspect the exchange

2. 2Inspect physical condition.
3. 3Check important functions and accessories where reasonably possible.
4. 4Confirm that account or activation locks are not preventing legitimate use.
5. 5Record the handoff details and keep useful evidence.

If a swap goes wrong

Use the marketplace support process and provide the original listing information, messages and photographs. Avoid retaliatory posts or attempts to recover an item through unsafe means.
