Listing Review & Approval Policy

01Purpose of the listing review process

Gadget Trade operates a reviewed marketplace. A seller submitting a gadget does not automatically make that item publicly discoverable. Listings enter the platform’s review and approval workflow so that the marketplace can apply its rules, safety requirements and quality standards before publication.

The review process is designed to reduce misleading, unsafe, fraudulent, prohibited, counterfeit, duplicated or otherwise unsuitable listings. It is one part of Gadget Trade’s wider trust and safety system and does not replace a buyer’s responsibility to make sensible checks before completing a transaction.

02How a listing enters the marketplace

When a seller creates and submits a listing, the platform records the listing and its submitted information, including the product details, price, condition, description, category and available media. Submitted listings can remain pending while the required checks are completed.

Sellers are expected to provide accurate information and photographs that represent the actual item being offered. A seller must not use the listing process to advertise an item that they do not possess, misrepresent its condition or authenticity, or conceal a material fact that could affect a buyer’s decision.

03Checks applied before publication

Some checks can be supported by automated systems and database rules, while other cases may require administrative or human review. The exact checks can vary according to the listing, account history, product category, available evidence and current marketplace requirements.

• Required listing information and basic marketplace eligibility.
• Product category, title, description, condition and price consistency.
• Photographs and other submitted media for obvious policy, safety or misleading-content concerns.
• Signals associated with scams, suspicious activity, prohibited goods, counterfeit products or deceptive behaviour.
• Duplicate, abusive, manipulated or otherwise low-quality marketplace content where applicable.
• Seller, account and marketplace context where additional information is reasonably relevant to trust and safety.

04Approval and public visibility

A listing becomes available for ordinary marketplace discovery only after it has passed the applicable review requirements and has been approved for publication. Listings that remain pending are not treated as approved public inventory.

Approval means that the listing passed the platform’s applicable review at that point in time. It is not a guarantee that the product is authentic, that every statement made by a seller is correct, that the seller will fulfil an order, or that a transaction cannot involve fraud or another problem.

05Edits, re-submission and continued review

A listing can be reviewed again when material information changes, when a seller re-submits a rejected listing, when new evidence becomes available, or when a legitimate safety, legal or marketplace-integrity concern is raised.

Gadget Trade may keep a listing pending, reject it, limit its visibility, remove it or request corrections where the listing no longer satisfies applicable requirements. Sellers should correct the underlying issue rather than attempting to bypass the review process with repeated or misleading submissions.

06Rejected, restricted or removed listings

A listing may be rejected or removed for reasons including inaccurate information, prohibited products, counterfeit or suspicious goods, deceptive pricing or descriptions, unsafe conduct, intellectual-property concerns, fraud indicators, repeated policy violations or another legitimate marketplace-safety reason.

Where appropriate, a seller may correct the problem and submit a compliant listing again. Gadget Trade may also restrict an account when listing behaviour forms part of a wider pattern of abuse or risk. Available appeal or support processes remain separate from the ordinary listing review workflow.

07Reports and post-publication protection

Review before publication is not the end of the safety process. Buyers, sellers and other users can report listings or conduct that appears unsafe, deceptive, prohibited or otherwise inconsistent with Gadget Trade policies. Reports can trigger additional review even when a listing was previously approved.

Gadget Trade may use available listing records, account information, reports, transaction context and other relevant platform information when assessing a concern. A listing can therefore be reviewed or removed after publication if a new issue is identified.

08What approval does — and does not — mean for buyers

Approval is an important marketplace control intended to keep unreviewed or clearly non-compliant inventory from appearing as ordinary public listings. It should give users additional confidence that the listing has passed Gadget Trade’s applicable publication checks.

It should not be interpreted as a personal guarantee, warranty or certification of the seller or product. Buyers should still review the listing carefully, ask sensible questions, use Gadget Trade’s available transaction protections, inspect items where practical and report suspicious activity.

09Ongoing marketplace standards

Gadget Trade may improve its review systems, moderation controls, automated checks, administrative workflows and publication standards as the marketplace grows. These changes can be introduced to address new scam patterns, product risks, legal requirements, user reports, technical signals and other legitimate trust-and-safety needs.

This policy describes the overall operating principle: listings are submitted into a review workflow, applicable checks are performed, and public marketplace visibility is reserved for listings that satisfy the platform’s current approval requirements. The process works together with the Terms & Conditions, Marketplace Safety Policy, Fraud Prevention Policy, Counterfeit Products Policy, Seller Conduct Policy and other applicable Gadget Trade policies.
